Basic requirements of Self Containment
| Water Supply System | Fresh water storage in a ventilated, opaque, secure container which conveys water in a secure manner that prevents contamination of the water. NOTE: The regulation only requires storage sufficient for 3 days, not a specific litre value. 12L per person for three days is industry guidance and likely expected by your self containment inspector. |
| Wastewater System | "Grey" water storage in a ventilated to the exterior, opaque secure container which can be used to dispose waste water hygienically. |
| Fixed Toilet | A permanently installed fixed toilet with a minimum of 3L per person usable inside the vehicle. The Fix-a-Potty Bracket with a camping toilet satisfies the fixed toilet requirement. |
| Sink | A sink that is available to wash hands and dishes and drains to the wastewater storage tank. |
| Rubbish Storage | Secure rubbish container. NOTE: minimum 3L per person is considered best practice. |
| Ventilation System | Ventilation via windows, fan, or openable vents. |
